At Great Blue Resorts, we believe some of the best memories are made by the campfire.
In this how-to guide, we want to introduce you to some of the most iconic, creative, and easy snacks you can make while having a cozy campfire at a Great Blue resort. Grab your roasting sticks and fire starters, and get ready for the yummiest bonfire ever!
Campfire Canoe + Banana Boat
S’mores with a twist (and a lot less mess)
First, the Camfire Canoe. What you’ll need: Aluminum foil, marshmallows, your favourite chocolate (milk chocolate is classic, but you can get fancy here too), graham crackers, and ice cream cones.
Steps: Take an ice cream cone and layer in your other ingredients. Start with some marshmallow, chocolate, and then crush up some graham crackers for that iconic flavor. Put it on your stick or other campfire roasting tool, wrap it in tin foil, and roast away!
You’ll have an ooey gooey delicious snack that won’t get your hands and face quite as messy as the original s’more.
For the banana Boat, follow all the same instructions, only instead of a cone, take a banana and cut a line down the long way of it. Add your fillings, wrap it in tinfoil, and roast. Be sure to eat this one with a spoon! This is also a great recipe to cook on the grill if you prefer.

Spider Dogs
The absolute best and way more fun way to prepare a hot dog.
What you’ll need: Hot dogs and a knife. It’s that simple!
Steps: Cut a plus on both ends of the spider dog. Leave the middle of the hot dog intact as the ‘body’ of the spider, and with the cuts you make, you should have four ‘legs’ on each end of the hot dog.
As the spider dog roasts, the legs will spread and curl out, making it look like a creepy crawly and creating perfectly cooked spider dog legs that can be pulled off and dipped in your preferred condiment. Fun to roast, fun to eat!

Campfire Nachos
An easily customizable snack.
What you’ll need: Aluminium foil (preferably a heavy-duty one for easier handling), chips, shredded cheese, and any extras your heart desires! Some classics include salsa, black beans, olives, jalapenos, and sliced tomatoes, but you can add whatever sounds good to you.
Steps: Lay down a sheet of aluminium foil, you’ll want it big enough to fit your ingredients, but not too big that it will fall apart easily. Leave a perimeter around the edge and add your chips, cheese, and all of your yummy toppings. Place a second sheet of foil on top and scrunch the sides together to seal your nacho packet. Place the packet over indirect heat and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Once you’re ready, remove it from the fire (very carefully, use tongs or heat-resistant gloves) and open your packet to enjoy!
