Fishing on Rice Lake
Rice Lake is well known to anglers from all over for its outstanding fishing.
The kids will love shore fishing and are bound to have a blast catching sunfish, perch or even a bass! More experienced anglers can set their sites on the abundant muskie and walleye proliferating the lake. Don’t have your own boat? Rent one of ours!

A variety of boat and motor rentals are available to suit all individual and family needs. Whether you’re an experienced fisherman, a beginner, or just want to get out with the family on the water, we have many options for you to choose from. We are happy to take reservations from both resort guests and local visitors looking to enjoy a day on the lake. Guests of Golden Beach can enjoy complimentary use of a selection of non-motorized watercraft including canoes, kayaks and paddleboats!

Golden Beach marina & cottage resort is located on the sunny south shore of Rice Lake offering seasonal power and non-power boat slips, fuel, pump out and visitor slips.
Not to mention our fabulous boat house café restaurant and gift shop.

Pleasure Craft Operator Card Required
In order to rent any of our boats, the driver will need to present the following documents:
- Pleasure Craft Operator Card
- Proof of having successfully completed a boating safety course in Canada
- Completed rental-boat safety checklist

*Prices do not include taxes and are subject to change. E & O.E. All boat/motor rentals include life jackets and all mandatory safety equipment. Gas, oil, and taxes extra. Reservations recommended, deposit required to confirm booking is 50%. Hourly packages cannot be reserved in advance, 3 hour rates are for walk-in’s only. A ‘Day’ Rental runs 9am – 6pm. Please note: There is a damage/cleaning deposit of $1000 for pontoon rentals and a $500 damage/cleaning deposit for the 20HP Fisherman’s Packages, and the 25HP fishing boat. Weekly motorized boat rentals are rented for 6 nights/ 7 days and brought back by 4:30 p.m. the last day. We reserve the right to charge for boats, motors, docks ordered and not taken.
Fishing Licenses
Please Note: Fishing Regulations are subject to change. Additional information regarding rules and regulations are available at The Ministry of Natural Resources website.
If you are 18 and over or under 65 years old:
You will need a valid:
- Outdoors Card (a plastic identification card, valid for three calendar years), and
- a fishing license (valid for either one or three calendar years)
A fishing license can be for either conservation (reduced catch limits) or sport (normal catch limits).
If you are under 18 years old or 65 and older:
You do not need to purchase an Outdoors Card or license to fish. You will need to carry your government-issued identification with you, that includes your name and date of birth, at all times while fishing. Your identification acts as your licence to fish, if you belong to one of these age ranges.
Canadian residents can fish without buying a fishing license:
Four times a year, Canadian residents can fish in Ontario without buying a fishing license:
- Family Fishing Weekend in February
- Mother’s Day Weekend in May
- Father’s Day Weekend in June
- Family Fishing Week in July
